The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is pleased to announce Jonathan Busarow has been named Artistic Director. Busarow previously served as director of the Valparaiso University Men’s Choir.
"The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir has conducted an extensive search interviewing both local and nonlocal candidates. We’re proud to have him as part of our organizatio and feel very fortunate he chose to join us." Said Denice Beights, Executive Director of the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir. "His ability to work with a variety of individuals and create an exemplary performance makes him a great asset to our organization. His extensive knowledge as a clinician and soloist, passion for excellence and superior reputation as a director and music scholar will elevate our offerings to the next level."
As Artistic Director, Busarow is charged with directing the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir Concert Choir, the organization’s premier touring ensemble, as well as the Youth Chorale. Additionally, Mr. Busarow will oversee the artistic development of the seven choirs in the program. He will lead efforts to ensure new programming reaches existing and new audiences.
Prior to joining the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, Busarow was the sabbatical replacement for his mentor, Dr. Christopher M. Cock, served as a graduate teaching associate at The Ohio State University, and has worked at several churches in Ohio and Indiana. Busarow holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in vocal performance from Valparaiso University and a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from The Ohio State University as well as a Kodály Certification from the Kodály Institute at Capital University. He has studied conducting with Christopher Cock, Dennis Friesen-Carper, Lenki Igo, Lilla Gabor, Robert J. Ward, and Hilary Apfelstadt.
Mr. Busarow and his wife, Nicole, have relocated in Fort Wayne and are looking forward to being part of this community.
ORGANIZATION INFORMATION
The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir’s mission is to provide a choral program exemplifying artistic and educational excellence for children from diverse backgrounds. The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir endeavors to contribute to the community’s cultural environment by providing opportunities to experience professionally trained young voices. The FWCC has seven ensembles and nearly 300 members annually. The ensembles collaborate with many of the finest arts programs in the region, as well as gives five season concerts annually.
