CHILDREN’S CHORUS OF GREATER DALLAS
ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR LEAVING
DALLAS, TX (September 7, 2012) – The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas announced today that Executive Director Terry Harley will be leaving his position in December of this year. In 1999, Mr. Harley joined the organization as a member of the Board of Directors and became CCGD’s first executive director in 2002. During his fourteen years of service, he played a crucial role in supporting the growth of the organization from a 150 voice children’s chorus to a 500 voice children’s and youth chorus. His contribution to the chorus has included increasing fundraising levels six-fold and establishing a substantial operating reserve.
Russel Young, Chair of the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas Board of Directors remarked, “Terry Harley has been a great partner in this organization’s extraordinary growth over the years. Together with the Board of Directors and Artistic Director Cynthia Nott, Terry has been steadfast in moving CCGD forward into a bright and successful future. We hold Terry in the highest regard, both as a professional and as a great friend to the Chorus, and we wish him the very best.”
“I am delighted by the strong success of this organization,” Harley said. “It has been a privilege to work with a dedicated collection of founders, parents, staff, board members, volunteers and donors; their support and commitment to excellence has enabled us to offer CCGD singers one of the richest choral and cultural experiences in North America. I am confident that I will leave CCGD in good hands.”
Cynthia Nott, Artistic Director of the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas stated, "The Chorus is in an exciting and promising period. I give much credit for this to the partnership that I have shared with Terry over the years. His experience, focused thinking, and belief in our mission served CCGD so well. I am very grateful to Terry for his collaboration in getting us to a place of artistic excellence and fiscal integrity. I wish him well and will continue to consider him a most respected colleague."
Determined to build on Mr. Harley’s successes, the Board of Directors and a selected search committee has engaged Arts Consulting Group, Inc., a national firm providing a variety of consulting services to the arts and culture sector, to provide executive search services. CCGD expects to have a successor in place by the first of the year.
