Hailing from Co. Kildare, Ireland, Dónal Noonan has been calling the United States home since 2003. Upon his relocation to the Tampa Bay area in Florida, Dónal assumed the role of Director of Music Ministries within the Diocese of St. Petersburg for a period of nine years, subsequently transitioning to the Archdiocese of Atlanta 11 years ago. Over the course of his career, Dónal has undertaken extensive global travels, participating in concerts and recitals and presenting workshops to a wide array of learners.
His professional journey led him to Georgia in 2012, where he presently serves as the Director of Music Ministries at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception – a historically significant and culturally ground breaking church community in downtown Atlanta. Simultaneously, he holds the position of Archdiocesan Choir Director for the Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta.
In 2013, Dónal established The Atlanta Homeward Choir, a musical arts organization dedicated to empowering people experiencing homelessness, fostering a sense of purpose, and breaking the cycle of homelessness. His commitment to leveraging the musical heritage of our varied and wide cultural backgrounds for the transformative potential of community support, underscores Dónal's enduring enthusiasm for musical outreach.
Dónal Noonan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Western Governors, Utah, and pursued a Master degree in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York.
