What would choral music look like if we were always searching for our next favorite composer? This simple and meaningful question inspires New Muses Project: a DEI-centered organization that promotes curiosity and justice in classical music through performance, education, and scholarship of composers from historically underrepresented backgrounds. In this session, the founders of the project will lead a discussion about “curiosity” and how it leads to greater diversity and inclusion, offer an interactive demonstration of their composer recommendation system, and discuss how DEI-forward work can be implemented without adding logistical or artistic complications to programming your next concert.
